Specialists from France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Switzerland will train in Switzerland from 2 to 6 June to carry out joint radioactivity measurements from the air.

DDPS and other federal departments to provide security support for Eurovision Song Contest in Basel

From 11 to 17 May, Basel will host the Eurovision Song Contest, a major event that will see extensive support from various agencies of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport, the Federal Office of Police, and the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security. These agencies will work alongside the organisers and cantonal authorities to ensure the security of the event, with the Confederation making a crucial contribution to public safety.

Federal Council to evaluate legal form of RUAG MRO

At its meeting on 27 November, the Federal Council decided to evaluate the possibility of converting RUAG MRO Holding AG (RUAG MRO) into a public-law entity. The DDPS will now examine various options and prepare a bill for consultation on the revision of the Federal Act on Federal Armaments Companies by end of May 2025.

Federal Council appoints Jürg Rötheli as chairman of RUAG MRO’s board of directors

At its meeting on 27 November, the Federal Council appointed Jürg Rötheli as Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUAG MRO Holding AG (RUAG MRO). Mr Rötheli will take up his position on 1 January 2025.

International training course on assistance and protection against chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals

Trainers from the NBC EOD Centre of Competence will teach the basics of chemical emergency survival to 25 representatives from States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). The State Secretariat for Security Policy (SEPOS) is coordinating the course in cooperation with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
