Exploring the risk landscape
Hazards to the general population and its livelihood are constantly changing. New hazards arise, while existing hazards and their impact as well as the perceptions of risks in society at large change. In order to improve and develop precautions for catastrophes and emergencies and enhance the resilience of society, it is necessary to observe and explore the risk landscape constantly. Research in the field of risk serves to generate new methodological insights and to review and update hazard assumptions periodically.
Developing civil protection
The Risk Analysis and Research Coordination section carries out studies in cooperation with a number of partners in the areas of risk and security and coordinates national research and development programs. The insights thus gained serve as the foundations for further developing civil protection and adapting it to current events.
