Alertswiss: Protecting people and saving lives

The Alertswiss website and app provide all the key information needed in the event of an incident in Switzerland, offering a central platform that can help protect people and save lives.

The national Alertswiss app provides the public with alerts, warnings and information about a wide range of hazards directly on their smartphone. All updates published via the app also appear on the Alertswiss website.

Alerts and other information on the app and website

Providing alerts and information through the app and website offers many advantages. Users get clear, visual details about the incident, its location, possible consequences and safety instructions – all in a user-friendly format and available in multiple languages. Three different notification levels (information, warning and alert) enable targeted updates to be shared even for smaller incidents, such as contaminated drinking water in a commune. You can customise the Alertswiss app to suit your needs, and a detailed FAQ on the Alertswiss website provides additional guidance.

Accessibility

Alertswiss enables information to be shared more quickly and in a more targeted way, reaching people who may not be alerted by traditional sirens, such as those with hearing impairments. The accessibility of the app and website is continually being improved.

Locally stored information

Alertswiss users can also fill out a personal emergency plan for themselves and their families. This makes it easier to prepare for a crisis in just a few steps. Your data is saved locally on your mobile device, so it remains available even if the mobile network is down. You can also export or print your personal emergency plan.

A joint project by the Confederation and the cantons

Alertswiss is a joint project of the federal government and the cantons. The relevant civil protection authorities issue alerts and warnings, and the sender is shown on each message. The Alertswiss app and website infrastructure are operated by the Federal Office for Civil Protection.
